Wing And A Prayer Farm
About the farm we partner with that owns the animals that make this entire process possible.
Wing & A Prayer Farm
Paca Performance Gear has partnered with a local farm which owns the animals that make this process possible. "Wing and a Prayer Farm is a happy place to live and grow. On our 20 acre Fiber Farm in Southern Vermont, we raise and care for a variety of poultry, Registered Shetland, Cormo, Cotswold, Wensleydale & Merino sheep, Registered Angora Goats, Alpacas, an American Guinea Hog named Princess Peppermint, mini donkeys, horses and a Shetland pony, and honeybees. We are grateful to be able to farm in Vermont and enjoy all that this part of the world has to offer. Preserving the farming history in New England and the beautiful mix of fields, forests and mountains is important to us in addition to supporting healthy, nutritious, organically & naturally grown and raised food & fiber." The Alpaca Cloud Fiber
What is it, and why do we use it?
We have found that the Alpaca Cloud Fiber is warmer and more lightweight than a regular down jacket.
How is that you may ask?
The Alpaca Cloud Fiber has hollow pockets that trap warmth for natural insulation.
In 0 degree weather this fiber provides a 50 degree comfort range. That's 20 degrees greater than most synthetics, and 30 degrees greater than wool. Initial product tests show our fiber fill is 10% warmer and up to 30% lighter than comparable down and synthetics.
We use the second and third cuts of the fiber because it is more cost effective and has never been used in this way before. Typically these cuts are composted or felted.

Paca Performance Gear is a Sustainable Ventures initiative that was vetted in an academic setting and truly fits the "Made in Vermont" marketplace tag. The opportunity to offer customers an alternative and sustainable product line starting with a jacket prototype and then moving into production of outdoor apparel, gear and then diversifying into home goods will be an amazing adventure for the PPG team.
